4/11/2008 - Day 15 (1st MaPY birthday on Board Nippon Maru)
Wake early morning and call Wann & Kak Ida, Today is Hafis birthday. He told me yesterday that he miss his mother and his gf. I also fell the same, not me alone but everyone on board already missing home. Home Sick!!
We plan to celebrate make a surprise for him. We don’t order cake, we was a bit late. So we decide to sing and cheer him up.
I inform all MaPY to gather at the dining hall by 8.30 a.m. and will have our breakfast together. Hafis know that some of us know his birthday date. So we just pretend not to know. We were chitchatting and eating breakfast when Hafis enter the dinning hall. So I wave my hand and ask him to join us. Soon he sit inform of me, I give a signal to sing song together. He was surprise and he almost cry. I cant see people cry, I almost cry because I gone miss all this sweet memory and the moment we spend together.
Discussion continues with the country presentation by us, Hafis the birthday boy, Kak Ida, Wann & my self. In DG we sing song for the birthday boy. He receives so many well wishes.

Journal of SSEAYP 2008 (Day 14)
3/11/2008 – Day 14 (DG + SG activity + Japan National Day)
Morning call by SG-D. MaPY morning exercise, wake up took shower and ready exercise call cabin 368 & 378. Wann & Kak Ida. 8.00 a.m. when for breakfast together took cereal, bread, yogurt, fresh juice & a cup of tea.
Announcement by the administration, All NL & PY please assemble at Dolphin Hall by 9.15. I repeat,, to all NL & PY please assemble at the dolphin Hall by 9.15. to those having seasickness and sickness please call the admin staff at 930 or 931 before 9.10 a.m.
Gather at the Dolphin hall, Mariemon took attendance, Malaysia complete!! Dahlia and I was there. SG-G is the 1st SG that complete that morning. Good Job!!
Morning assembly is must to ensure no PY jump into the sea and to ensure the seasickness PY is monitor by the nurse. There is some announcement by the administrative staff, Masa.
- Smokers are reminded to only smoke at the designated places.
- Trash Bin is only to throw plastic & paper NOT Banana or Food please use the
utilities room trash bin.
- Admin opening hours are from 8.30a.m till 9.30p.m daily
- By 11.00 p.m. must return all borrowed item from admin.
- The watch in the cabin will be 1 hour behind (Brunei Time)
10.00 a.m. DG-7 assembles at Dolphin hall left. Start the DG with briefing on the Discussion topic for this week. Today topic is Country Presentation. Each contingent shall do the presentation in 10 minute. The contingent turns are by POC.
For today JPY, IPY, TPY, CPY, VPY and tomorrow session will be BYP, PPY, MaPY, MyPY & SPY persenatition
Discussion finish early 15 minute. Was a fun session of discussion. Having hafis, wann & kak ida in one DG is one of the greatest thing during SSEAYP. 4 of us plan to have lunch together.
After lunch is the SG activity session, all are required to wear their own SG t-shirt. Mine was black t-shirt. Today we will design our own SG flag and to create a trademark cheers. We were given 20 minute to design the flag. Ideas were booming around everyone head, but we have to decide and finish it in only 20 minute.
I don’t really have idea so I just help color the flag; we are also need to explain why we choose the design and why.

Journal of SSEAYP 2008 (Day 13)
2/11/2008 – Day 13 (Sick on Board)
I wake up early can really sleep. Headache. Lan knocks my cabin and Puifei open the door. Lan asks me if I’m feeling better? I told him that I’m ok. Wann ask me if I want to eat breakfast. I say no! They scold me. I fainted because I didn’t eat my lunch yesterday. I already took shower. Wash my hair. My face still pail.
Wann accompany me to the dinning hall and all MaPY smiling and I can only say I’m ok. I’m ok. I was ashamed I fainted in front of all MaPY.
I want to drink coffee but Lan our MaPy doctor scolds me. Don’t drink coffee, it not good for you’re my heath now. Eat slice of bread and drink a cup of tea.
Assemble at dolphin hall by 9.15 a.m. Today schedule will begin with discussion in the morning and CA sub committee meeting in the afternoon. As the Head of CA, I need to make sure the preparation is done. I have not yet prepared any slide.
Discussions begin with the Institution visit in Japan, Medeka Stream & Green Bird.
Eat lunch and slept.

Journal of SSEAYP 2008 (Day 12)
1/11/08 (1st Day Sailing + Raya Celebration on Board)
The sail has start and will be stopping at Muara, Negara Brunei Darussalam on the 6th November, 08. Practice start, ND and POC. Head of Culture and the stage manager are person in charge to fix time and venue for us to practice. We have not practice almost 10 day’s, since the finale in Puchong.
There will be SG meeting to discuss on the activities that each SG will contribute and to appoint SG sub committee member in each SG.
I wasn’t really feeling well have fever and dizzy. I didn’t took lunch, feeling like throwing up. Lan give me medication. Feeling better. The GL & AGL meeting decided that the Deepavali & Eid celebration will be today after dinner. I’m the person in charge (Malaysia Contingent) to get ready all the decoration + food + cookies + music. Moel BPY and I have plan for this day before SSEAYP. So he also has organized some decoration and cookies. So Singapore contingent will arrange Deepavali festival and Malaysia, Brunei & Indonesia Eid.
We also need to print brochures and need to past to the notice board of each contingent. I don’t really feeling well. Told lan and he advice me to take a rest
Wasn’t feeling good, told Lan that I will take rest. Took medicine. All Mapy was helping arranging the cookies, and the music.
After dinner I was feeling better and join the celebration. BYP will be having their national day practice from 8-9 p.m and MaPY from 9.00-10.00a.m so we can take turn to welcome everyone to join the celebration.
Singing and make a tu-tu train. Singing the Balik Kampung song!! Oh oh balik kampong hati girang!! Everyone was wearing the dress code, Traditional wear. I was wearing the red batik.
9.00 p.m. is our turn to practice, so everyone assemble at mermaid saloon. Our ND will be on 10th November after we come back from home stay in Brunei. I really forgotten most of the step but with the video, we try to remember the steps back. I can see everyone is tense as in Puchong. The practice start from 9 till 10.00p.m 45-minute show in front of all NL & PY is so tense!!! We only was trained by Abg Awie for 3 day and………. Kak Ida fell so stress!
I start to feel dizzy; I fall and fainted during the training. Everyone was shock and Lan was there. I don’t really remember what happen, when I open my eye lan was asking, Min ok tak? I almost cry but I didn’t. Kak Ida, Delia, Wann, Soma, Dennis was worried. I can’t really stand.
Delia & Marina carry me back to my cabin. I was unconscious. I don’t really remember what happen. Puifei & Lilian was in the room. They were shock too seeing me unconscious. I can’t really open my eye and just slept!

Journal of SSEAYP 2008 (Day 11)
31/10/08- Day 11 (Nippon Maru disembark from Yokohama Port)
Morning call by SG-A, Was cute and funny, wake up took shower and get ready in C2. We have free time now; All NL is having COC meeting with admin staff. The detail of the meeting will be told after we disembark. There will be contingent meeting in after each POC. We spend time by knowing who are our cabin neighbor and our contingent board.
My room is near to the admin counter. Eifa, Wann, Delia, Linda, Sunn, Kak Ida, Marina, was helping to decorate our contingent board.
After lunch, there will be an open ship and send of ceremony in Dolphin Hall. Attire A1. The ceremony took about 2 hours and after that we were given our 1st ribbon. (mine was white colour) This ribbon is symbolist that Nippon Maru is leaving the port, and saying Bon voyage.
JPY was crying, they family member was there to say good-bye, happy journey and bless them. The ship disembark sharp 4.10 p.m.
The ribbon was colorful. Most of us were crying at this moment. I really miss home. Alia also was crying. Hug her and told her that we are going to Brunei. She smile and say yes we are going to Brunei.
The ship move and I cant really belived I Yasmin Binti Mohammed Salam is on board the Ship for Southeast Asia Youth Participant (SSEAYP) Nippon Maru.
I really cry, and say thank to Allah. We all move to the upper deck and watch the historical moment together bon voyage of Nippon Maru. Next year the sister ship will take our Nippon Maru job after almost 20 years sailing in the blue ocean.

30/10/08 – Day 10 (Nippon Maru here we come!!!)
Wake up early morning, breakfast together with Mapy! Laugh and make joke. Abah , YL & AYL have left for courtesy call. We are free now! Hahaha!! So I plan to go to 100Y shop to do some window-shopping and to hang around. Today will be the last day for us in Japan. Even we will be back in Japan this December, but from Nippon Maru will be straight to Narita Airport.
After the breakfast we when to the hotel park. It was beautiful, Alia was carring her camera. So she has the entire photo in her camera.

Kak Ida was busy arranging her luggage, so Wann, Alia & me when together to 100Y shop. We have only 2 hours. We need to be back to the hotel to leave to Yokohama Port by 11.00 a.m.
Reach hotel and return our key to the admin staff, assemble in front of the front desk, with all luggage.
Make a phone call to home. Inform Ami that I will going to Brunei and will call her when I reach Brunei. (Our 1st Port of Call)
All Mapy in tebuan t’shirt look cute and smart. The bus took us to Yokohama port and lunch was server in the bus.
Banana, everyone was making joke of it. Guys!! Wandy was laughing until his face turn red! His and Amir stupid joke make everyone was laughing.
From the bus we can see Nippon Maru, Masa san. It so beautiful. I can’t wait to be in Nippon Maru. We reach Yokohama port and everyone can’t wait to be on board Nippon Maru. We were line up in contingent with the Port of Call order. Took opportunity to serve net and take photo of the Nippon Maru. I can’t believe that Nippon Maru is there.
Immigration procedure will be taking about 2-3 hour; I just lay down and close my eyes.
Dreaming of Disneyland yesterday!
Can’t really sleep, noise, I understand they feeling. After the incident in DG, Hafis like to disturbed me. He is cute, but when he is serious, he is like a hungry tiger. Scary!!
When Malaysia Contingent turns, everyone is so excited and waited for our turn. Ganesh and me was at the last, but hafis is really make me feel so…..!! I don’t know what is wrong with him.
We enter the Nippon Maru, the crew welcoming us, by saying hello miss, welcome on board.
My cabin number is 342, I will be a roommate with SPY & TPY. Soonest I get into my room. I was so happy to know bed A was mine. The room was neat and cute. There is a TV, a DVD player, a fridge and cabinet for each of us.

There will be a lifeboat drill, for all of us. The life jacket is place on each of our cabinet.
The evening we spent with explore Nippon Maru. They’re an ice cream, cup noodle, beer, and for smoker there is a cigarette vending machine.
The dinner serves at 6.00p.m. I really enjoy the food; there is a certificate of Halal, and many choices of food, Long rice, beef, chicken, salad, vegetable, bread, and fresh fruit.
The dining hall was elegant, like you are in the 5 star hotels. There is crew to pour you soup and drinks. I enjoy my cup of tea, missing ‘TEHTARIK’ so much.
It already dark, I fresh up, just hang around with Kak Ida, Wann & Alia. Explore the ship. There was a night call by Admin and we need to be in our cabin by 11.00p.m. There is some rule and regulation on board Nippon Maru.

29/10/08 – Day 9 (Medeka Stream + Tokyo Disneyland )
Marina knock my room, she in charge to wake up all the ladies this morning. Queue in front the toilet. Still feeling sleepy. Brush my teeth with my eye still close. V was asking, Kak Yasmin, are you ok? I say yes darling I’m fine, only I still feeling sleepy.
Took breakfast, and we need to bring down our luggage, at the lobby. Our stay in NYC will be until here. I pack my luggage before I sleep yesterday. Their will send our luggage to Nippon Maru, we will on board Nippon Maru tomorrow. All of us can’t wait to see Nippon Maru. After today institution visit we will go to Sheroton Miyako Hotel for 1 night stay.

We don’t want to miss any opportunity, so all of us snap photo, Soma also bough a new DSLR camera from Akiabara. The weather was cold and it freezing.
I was dam hungry, didn’t took my dinner. So I told Piro that we wana drop by 7-E before we go back to hotel. She says ok! Tired and fell so cold. Was holding hand with Kay. Kay bough hot chocolate drink we share. It make me feel a bit hot!.
Soma bought the Mickey hat, borrow and I take photo, Cute but funny!!
When to 7-e and bough some sandwich and drink. Reach hotel about 11.30 p.m.
Fresh up and transfer all picture to Kay laptop. Need to return back the camera to Abah. He may need to use tomorrow, Abah, YL & ALY will be meeting the Royal family & the prime minister for the courtesy call.
The hotel have wireless so, four of us is waiting for his or her turn to use the laptop. Hafis and Kay room in front of our room. Admin room is only 2 doors away and we can’t really make noise. If not Admin will inform to Abah tomorrow morning.
Kak Ida, Wann & Zaridah is the room. Chatting and tell about the trip to Wann, 1st she wan to go to Disneyland but lan wan her to company him to other tour visit.
Show the some of the pictures and told her all the excitement we have, the roller coaster, the popcorn and the Disney character that we saw.
Pidot was online and was chatting with Eifa. Hafis was watching TV. The web cam was on during the chatting with pidot. He say Hafis look sexy without his shirt. I can’t stop laughing. Kay wasn’t not in the room, so I company Eifa. I fall sleep on the couch.
I went back to my room and sleep. We need to wake up before 7.30a.m. Breakfast time schedule at 8.00 a.m. Good Night Japan!! Sweet dream Disneyland!

Medeka Stream. Abah will be joining wann & me in this vsit. Both of us ws wearing Jean & Sport shoe with C1.hehehe… Warm welcome and we were served lunch. It was Udon, vegetarian menu for us. I don’t really feeling like eating but I enjoy the red bean bun. The bun is a fresh from medeka stream bakery. The bakery is a place for this disable youth to learn and stand on their feet. The medeka stream provide support and education for this disable.

I was given opportunity by Abah to make a thank you speech to the Director of Medeka Stream Toshio Yamashita & Yoshiko Yamashita. Abah said I did a greet job and I was happy with my speech.

We were given room key in the bus. There are 4 names in the list, Kak Ida, Wann, Zaridah & My self.
We reach Sheraton Miyako at 4.30p.m and I was late for the Disneyland tour. We were supposed to assemble at the lobby by 4.30p.m. I run to my room and fresh up as quick as I can and run back to the lobby. The JYP was in charge for this trip is Piro my SG-G mate. The expenses will be bare by our own self. The cost of entrance + subway ticket are Y3, 600. Entrance fees are Y3, 300 and the Y300 yen for the subway.
-Amir, Kay, Kak Ida, Soma, Cikgu Zul, Sunn, Eifa, Henry, Fitri, Linda and my self!! We pay the fees and wait for other to be there. We waited until 5.30 p.m. then all of us walked to the subway near the to the hotel. We change 3 train and it took us 1 hour to reach Disneyland. My camera was running out of battery.
Abah has offer me his new camera that he just bough in Akiabara. I was happy; I have a new camera now. Hehehe.. I told Abah it ok, I scared I will lost it. He say no problem, I still can buy one more. I just smile and say Thanks Abah.
We don’t want to miss any opportunity, so all of us snap photo, Soma also bough a new DSLR camera from Akiabara. The weather was cold and it freezing.
I enjoy the trip, Kak Ida, Kay & Firti four of us when together. We separate with other, we was given only 3 hour. Now already 7.00p.m and we need to be back in front of the subway station by 9.30 p.m. The admin staff has informed that all PY must be back to the hotel by 11.00p.m. We don’t want to waste time and enjoy the golden dream. I was so happy. Cold weather. Most of my pictures are with the sweater.
I was dam hungry, didn’t took my dinner. So I told Piro that we wana drop by 7-E before we go back to hotel. She says ok! Tired and fell so cold. Was holding hand with Kay. Kay bough hot chocolate drink we share. It make me feel a bit hot!.

When to 7-e and bough some sandwich and drink. Reach hotel about 11.30 p.m.
Fresh up and transfer all picture to Kay laptop. Need to return back the camera to Abah. He may need to use tomorrow, Abah, YL & ALY will be meeting the Royal family & the prime minister for the courtesy call.
The hotel have wireless so, four of us is waiting for his or her turn to use the laptop. Hafis and Kay room in front of our room. Admin room is only 2 doors away and we can’t really make noise. If not Admin will inform to Abah tomorrow morning.
Kak Ida, Wann & Zaridah is the room. Chatting and tell about the trip to Wann, 1st she wan to go to Disneyland but lan wan her to company him to other tour visit.
Show the some of the pictures and told her all the excitement we have, the roller coaster, the popcorn and the Disney character that we saw.
Pidot was online and was chatting with Eifa. Hafis was watching TV. The web cam was on during the chatting with pidot. He say Hafis look sexy without his shirt. I can’t stop laughing. Kay wasn’t not in the room, so I company Eifa. I fall sleep on the couch.
I went back to my room and sleep. We need to wake up before 7.30a.m. Breakfast time schedule at 8.00 a.m. Good Night Japan!! Sweet dream Disneyland!

28/10/2008 – Day 8 (NYC)
I sleep in my room alone, wasn’t really felling well, So I sleep early yesterday. Most of MaPY are enjoying the lovely night with private party & dating!! SSEAYP LOVE already in the sky!! I wondering too if I found someone too.. hahaha.. I know that I’m not going to have any date on board. I’m not that cool and not pretty. But I like that PPY cute guy.
Pavani, Misha & I was early before 7 we already there. So we decide to have breakfast 1st. Walk to café and I was not really felling nice, leaving other behind. So I decide to wak back to the hostel lobby to inform other that Abah, Pavani & Misha already in the café. I ask for apologies because everyone was waiting for us. Everyone say no problem but I really feeling guilty.
Eat our breakfast, I was feeling alone and guilty. Amir make a joke and I laugh, I was ok after that. I can just see everyone was happy that no more PDT and Abg Awie, hehehe,
Today schedule is Discussion for the hold day. We are going to meet our facilitator Mr. Heide. The DG-7 (volunteer Activities) for Malaysia contingent is Kak Ida, Wann , Hafis & my self. We already know we are in the same group during PDT and we had made a lot of paper work & contingent presentation. I was lucky to have them in the same discussion group; it will be enjoyable moment and happening group.
MaPY attire for today was Harimau T’shirt and jeans. We when to the discussion group gather I can see most of them are not same SG with me. I was happy, so that we can know more PY’s. Our DG facilitator Mr. Heide introduce him self, he is cute and good-looking. J
The session start ice breaking, I will not forget the moment Hafis make me feel so…….

We where divided to 5 group and I was in group one with 3 JPY, 1 CPY, 1 MyPY, 1 LPY, and 1 local youth. The local will join us for this 2-day discussion session.
We were given some task and did some presentation. Finish the dissucion andFinish the dissucion and we will be going for our 1st institution visit. Wann and I will be going to Medeka Streem, Hafis and Kak Ida will be going to Hijuruku Street to collect garbage.
Contingent meeting at 10.00p.m. Briefing by Abah, YL, AYL, Head of Discipline & Head of Logistic, luggage will be move to Nippon Maru early tomorrow morning.
When sleep early without eating dinner, I really missing home. mp3 was my company for the night. The weather was cold and I can see the Disneyland from my room. I will be going to Disneyland tomorrow, a tour organize by JPY. That is one of my dreams when I come to Japan. I’m going to Disneyland!!!!

(The big day for us – JASEAN Youth Leaders Summit + Exhibition)
Morning start with exercise at 7.00 a.m. after that with C1 attire Mapy walked to the café for breakfast. Abah was there already, having breakfast with Abah (INL). Wann, Kak Ida & I really enjoy the breakfast; there was cereal, bread, coffee and some fresh juice.
Everyone start to get busy with the exhibition and the rehearsal. As a exhibition committee, we need to get our exhibition booth ready in 2 hours time and we are lack of time. The measurement was given early during our PDT was not the same? We were so jam! With the help of local youth and MaPY, we manage to make our booth look more happening. It not the same plan when we was in Youth Center in KL. Hehehe,,

Briefing will start at 9.00a.m. We finish our breakfast and take our own time. Guys were in a mood making new cheers. Kak Ida was a bit stress. She is our head of culture. She worried of the performance later. We have not been in rehearsal almost 5 day since we are in Japan. I was worried to; even I’m not the dancer for today performance.
The 1st schedule for the day is Discussion. We are going to meet our facilitator today. My discussion group is Volunteer Activities (DG-7). Hideaki Miyachi are appointed to be our DG-7 facilitator. During the orientation only Py’s with the Press tag are allowed to take photo. This is kind of official SSEAYP’08 program. The session finish around 10.30 and after this is the rehearsal for the introduction of each contingent. Crown Princess Masako, princess of Japan will attend the opening ceremony of Japan – Asean Youth Leader Summit for the 2008. Pavani and I have been chosen to meet the Princess during the exhibition.

The hall was so quite and I was so nerves, the Princess will enter the hall any time and our bunting has fall down!! Pavani and I were so worried and with the help of local youth, he is Malaysian, we manage to hang back the banner at the place it belongs! I was sweating; wearing sary and I don’t really fell comfortable anymore.
The Princess enters the hall with 2-body guard beside her. I told Pavani, I so scared, I have not been talking to a princess before this. She asks me to relax. The Princess was so sweet, she sake hand with us and was welcoming Malaysia Contingent to Japan. She is beautiful. I still can’t believe I really talking with the Princess. We are not allowed to take photo with her.

After her visit to each booth, Pavani & I will join other MaPY in the hall to join the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony begins with the speech from IYEO program manager. I can see all MaPY that will do the performance are tense up! All I can do is to support and wish them good luck.
The performance begin with Port of Call order, began with Negara Brunei Darussalam follow by Indonesia, Kingdom Of Thailand, Kingdom of Cambodia, Viet Nam, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos P.D.R, Singapore and last but not lease Japan.
Our Malaysia contingent presentation was the color full. I was so happy and I really cry. The tense is over and all MaPY was smiling.

Journal of SSEAYP 2008 (Day 6)
26/10/08 - Day 6 ( Shizuoko-Aichi-Tokyo-NYC)
I fell a bit sad, miss home, and I really miss mapy. I was also wondering how is Delia? She must be sad because she was sick during her 1st home stay. We leave the house at 11.00a.m and the journey will take 45 minute. Snap photo of the flat that we was staying! Will miss them.

The train Station- Shizuoko, Tokyo
With delia in the bullet train,
Mouth Fuji, Japan. We saw life in front of our eye it was beautiful. All the py’s was sleeping when I saw and shout mouth Fuji, mouth fuji everyone wake up and ask where! Where! And I shout there, on my left side. Everyone grab their camera and took picture of the beautiful Fuji Mount. The other Japanese passenger was laughing seeing all of us. They must see it almost everyday, but we can see it once in our lifetime.
I can’t sleep and I knock Wann room. Alia was there. I told them that it really scary sleeping alone in that room. So I ask wann can I sleep in her room together? She says ok. I bring my blanket and pillow sleep on the floor. Good Night Wann & Alia.
Woke up early morning, about 7.30 a.m. the breakfast was served. Pan cake & hot coffee. English style. I really will miss them so much, they really a caring family. The moment we spent is too short but it really memorable.
After the breakfast Puifei and me, arrange our baggage, we need to leave the home at 11.00a.m. SG-G member will be gather inform of the cabinet office that we went on our 1st day in Aichi. There will be a bus waiting for us to bring us back to the train station.

Reach Tokyo station, late noon. Everyone is tired; I can fell the ache on my shoulder and my toe. I have to wear sport shoes in this weather and the sport shoe is killing me.
The weather is super cold and Delia feeling not well. She still coughing and have a fever. We walk almost 10 minute to the bus. It was terrible; my hand carry is super duper heavy. One of the officers that company us to Aichi offer him self to carry my hand carry. I can just say thanks.
We reach the Olympics National Youth Center around 5.30p.m SG-G is the forth group to arrive in the NYC. The other py’s will be joining us also. I was happy and say to my self, I want to hug mapy when I saw them. I really miss Kak Ida, Wann, Eifa & Alia.
We were given our room key and the scary part is, you will be in room alone. I can imagine the Japanese ghost story. I was given room number 566, 5th floor of the NYC hostel.
We are told to collect our luggage in front of the hostel entrance. Everyone is busy to check his or her own luggage. I collected my luggage and straight when to my room.
The NYC is as the same in Korea. The building, the design, it make me remember the moment I was in Incheong, Korea last 2 years. I saw Sunn and hug her, I really miss Mapy, and the best part is the 5th floor is book for Mapy. Yahoo!!! I hug wann; her room is opposite my room.
So where was sharing our sweet memory during home stay and didn’t notice that we will late for our dinner. Dinner is server at 6.30 till 7.30 p.m.
